Den høy sheriffen av Powys ( Høy sheriffen av Powys i engelsk og Uchel Siryf Powys i walisisk ) er rettslig representant for britiske monarkiet i fylket Powys .

Funksjonen er for første gang holdt av Francis Amcotts Wilson, utnevnt til 26. mars 1974for året 1974-1975. Peter Ronald James er lensmann i Powys for året 2021-2022 etter utnevnelsen den10. mars 2021.

Historie

I betydningen av Local Government Act 1888 er avgrensninger definert fra de administrative fylkene opprettet fra1 st april 1889i England og Wales . I Wales endres disse imidlertid i1 st april 1974i henhold til § 219 i kommuneloven 1972 .

Et nytt minnesmerke som dekker fylket Powys ble således reist fra Montgomeryshire og Radnorshire , så vel som delvis Brecon . Mens funksjonene til Sheriffs of Montgomeryshire  (in) , Radnorshire  (in) og Brecon  (in) er avskaffet31. mars 1974, som av High Sheriff of the Powys er innstiftet kl1 st april 1974.

The Local Government (Wales) Act 1994 opphever fylkene opprettet i Wales av 1972 loven i31. mars 1996. Imidlertid beholder disse en begrenset seremoniell rolle som bevarte fylker , spesielt i sammenheng med hevelser . Dermed forblir det bevarte fylket Powys operativt innenfor nye territoriale grenser, som er de samme som de som ble beskrevet i loven i 1972, med tillegg av lokalsamfunnene Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, Liansilin og Liangedwyn, fra Clwyd .
