WEB Griffin , pseudonym for William Edmund Butterworth III , født den10. november 1929i Newark ( New Jersey , USA ) og døde den12. februar 2019i Daphne , Alabama , er en produktiv amerikansk forfatter , forfatter av mange militære og detektivromaner .

Biografi

WEB Griffin vokste opp i New York og Philadelphia . Han ble med i USAs hær i 1946 . Han ble tildelt motintelligens og USAs Constabulary  (in) i Vest-Tyskland . Han tildeles Army of Occupation Medal . Etter demobilisering studerte han ved University of Marburg . Studiene hans ble avbrutt i 1951 da han ble tilbakekalt for å delta i Koreakrigen . Etter slutten av Koreakrigen fortsatte han å arbeide for militæret i en sivil kapasitet som sjef for United States Aviation Publications Division.

I 1959 ga han ut sin første roman Comfort Me With Love av WE Butterworth. En produktiv forfatter, han utgir et stort antall thrillere og detektivromaner under sitt navn eller under forskjellige pseudonymer.

Fra 2007 var sønnen William E. Butterworth IV med på å skrive en del av sitt arbeid.
