Irland tur
Den Circuit of Ireland ( Circuit of Ireland Rally , eller på folkemunne Circuit ) er en årlig konkurranse rallybil på asfalt kjempet hovedsakelig i Ulster (start og slutt) og i Irland , med over åtti års eksistens.
Historie
Det er en av de eldste samlingene i verden, organisasjonen av spesielle etapper ble inspirert av Rallye Monte-Carlo . Det er organisert av Ulster Automobile Club .
I 1936 krysset reisen hele Irland i mer enn 1740 km i fem dager, og ga sitt endelige navn til begivenheten (avgang og ankomst til Bangor ). Ronnie Adams vant dette løpet i 1936, da som medfører. Han deltok i totalt 15 utgaver, uten å gi opp, ivrig etter å fullføre sin aller siste konkurranse der, i 1963 i en alder av 47 år.
I flere år var dette rallyet på asfalt det lengste i verden, og tiltrukket kjente sjåfører som Henri Toivonen , Hannu Mikkola eller Pentti Airikkala (vinner i 1979, den eneste ikke-britiske sjåføren til dags dato). Jimmy McRae (far til Colin , også vinner i 1991) vant den 7 ganger i løpet av 1980-tallet (1980, 1981, 1982, 1985, 1987, 1988 og 1989), Paddy Hopkirk 5 ganger tidligere (1958, 1961, 1962, 1965 og 1967 ) samt landsmannen Derek McGarrity nylig (2003, 2004, 2005, 2010 og 2011).
Arrangementet ble suspendert seks ganger, inkludert 1948 (bensin rasjonert på slutten av krigen), 1953 ( Suez-krisen ), 1972, 2000-01 ( munn- og klovsykeepidemi ) og 2007 (uenighet mellom arrangører og sponsorer, erstatning av Easter International Rally på et forkortet løp med 12 spesialetapper).
Nå foregår det i to dager (tradisjonelt i påskehelgen ), på veideler. Den ble spilt inn i European Rally Championship mellom 1979 og 1984, og i Intercontinental Rally Challenge i løpet av det siste året av dette mesterskapet i 2012.
Det teller for britiske (BRC) og irske (Irland Gravel) mesterskap, og ble ikke valgt i 2013 for en gjeninnføring i europamesterskapet på grunn av mangel på organisatoriske midler (rallyet på Kanariøyene har ham var dermed foretrukket).
Saken er ferdig i 2014. EM rally de nå innlemmer som 5 th inning.
